Poster Guidelines

Submission

Submit your poster abstract when you register to attend Public Health Research@Maryland. Please see guidelines for content criteria below. You will receive a confirmation email after you have submitted your poster and be notified by the event team if there are follow up questions.

 

Content

Faculty and students are invited to showcase their research and learn about interdisciplinary studies addressing critical public health issues for Marylanders, the region, the nation and beyond in the era of healthcare reform. Poster abstracts can address a wide range of topics.

Guidelines

Posters should be no larger than 4' x 4'. You will be assigned a space that is this size. A regular poster size is about 3' x 4'. Posters must be placed in the Grand Ballroom of the Stamp Student Union between 7:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 9. You will be assigned a specific space when you arrive. Presentation walls, tacks, and velcro will be available for you to hang your poster. Posters should be removed at the end of the day. Any remaining posters will be collected and can be retrieved on Friday, April 10 from the Office of the Dean in the School of Public Health (room 2242). Please contact the Office of the Dean at (301) 405-2438 if you have questions or need to make other arrangements for picking up your poster.

Judging

Student presented posters will be judged during the poster session between 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, in two separate shifts (11:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. and 12:00 p.m. -1:00 p.m.) so that presenters may break for lunch. Their quality will be rated for criteria such as: identification of research problem; appropriateness of research design and of data analysis; interpretation of results; clarity of oral presentation; description of relevance of findings to public health and overall presentation skills. Awards will be announced and presented at 3:30 p.m.
